United Nations Association East Bay & 1951 Coffee Company Present: In honor of Human Rights Day, we will be discussing the importance of supporting refugee resettlement in the Bay Area as well as the people and organizations that aid refugees in other countries.

Keynote Speakers:

Zeiad Abbas, Executive Director, Middle East Children’s Alliance. A Palestinian refugee, Ziad is also a filmmaker, journalist and educator. He was the co-producer and production manager of Academy Award nominated Promises.

Joe Lurie, Executive Director Emeritus, UCB International House and Author of Perception and Deception. Joe speaks to smashing misconceptions about refugee cultural realities, which begins the journey of breaking stigma and replacing fear with positive and supportive engagement.
